It’s a busy Saturday followed by a pretty quiet Sunday in the NHL this week. Regardless there are still daily fantasy sports to be played. Here are some games and players to watch for this upcoming weekend:
Alex Galchenyuk- (Draft Kings: 5,100)
In the middle of one of the hottest stretches of his career (7 points in 5 games as of Thursday) and going into a game on saturday against the Wild who have been battling a locker room flu. I like his chances to keep the hot streak rolling. Taking him with Sven Andrighetto is a cheap way to fill your lineup with some value.
Pair him with: Sven Andrighetto(3,700), Max Pacioretty(7,100)
Jack Eichel – (Draft Kings: 6,000)
Since his matchup with Connor McDavid, Eichel has 5 points in 4 games. Combine that with a Carolina club that has had trouble keeping the puck out of their net it could be a big night. Even if he doesn’t score, Eichel has gotten at least 3 shots in each of his last 6 games. He’s a safe bet at the least.
Pair him with: Rasmus Ristolainen (6,500), Evander Kane (6,500), Sam Reinhart (4,300)
Craig Smith – (Draft Kings: 4,800)
7 points and 12 shots in 5 games, his cost hasn’t risen yet so he is a great pick, especially considering their playing the Canucks on Saturday who have been terrible. Hell, while you’re at it, just take his entire line from the Preds.
Pair him with: Filip Forsberg (6,600), Mike Ribeiro(4,100), Roman Josi(6,900), Pekka Rinne (8,200)
Benn and Seguin
There defense is hurting, it might be tough for the Stars to get anything going especially against a Blues team that’s 7-3-0 in their last 10 games. They might be good for 2.5-3.5 points, but not worth what you’ll forfeit in salary for them.
While it’s always tempting to go after the flashy rookie, he’s been cold as cold can be these past 5 games with no points and only 9 shots combine that with the Wings being 3-5-2 their last 10. I don’t expect any success on saturday against the Rangers, maybe a bounceback performance on Sunday against the Leafs however.
Once a reliable pick to grab a few points for fairly cheap, he’s slowed up a little. They’re also playing a hot Sharks team so I wouldn’t expect Williams to do too much damage. If you want to take some Capitals then maybe go for the Kuznetsov-Burakovsky combo and avoid Williams all together.
GAME TO WATCH
Tampa Bay Lightning vs Columbus Blue Jackets (Sunday at 3et)
Both teams are playing some good hockey as of late and Columbus has been putting up some goals as well. Columbus has been proving they can score in bunches and they have a good chunk of players who consistently put up good daily fantasy numbers. Jenner, Dubinsky and Atkinson would be the three forwards I would focus on. Savard and Jones are also pretty reliable on the back end.
Tampa on the other hand has been red hot. Taking any player in their top six is a good bet and they won’t cost you too much. Palat and Killorn are both fairly cheap.
Either way, this is a game where I’d load up on skaters for both teams then maybe divert to a goalie in a different matchup. The other bonus here is that the Blue Jackets forwards likely won’t have very high draft %’s so you could really make up some ground
Did I miss anyone? Let me know.
Happy Fantasy(ing?) this weekend!
