Vancouver reporter Ben Kuzma was on TSN 1040 on Monday and made some very interesting comments on Travis Hamonic. Weird right? A Vancouver reporter has a rumour on a Islanders player and links him to the Oilers.
Essentially Kuzma is saying that Hamonic rescinded his trade request simply to make life easier for GM Garth Snow and to make it easier for a deal to be made. His interview can be found HERE and starts around the 9 minute mark.
He also said that Taylor Hall could be going back the other way.
He did touch on the topic very vaguely, but it certainly thrusts Hamonic’s name right back into the rumour mill.
Kuzma has been in the business for almost 30 years so he isn’t just an out of nowhere reporter looking to get noticed. He definitely has his league sources. However, Islanders beat reporter Arthur Staples response to this report was less than friendly.
Staples was the one who originally reported that Hamonic had rescinded his ORIGINAL request for a trade. So read into that what you will.
This could be one of two things. http://scratchtech.io/tag/gifted/ 1- Travis Hamonic did Garth Snow a favour and rescinded his original request for a move to improve his value and take pressure off the Islanders. can i buy zoloft online 2- He actually doesn’t feel the need to be moved to Western Canada, but the Islanders are looking at this like “once you request a trade, you’ve requested a trade” and you can’t go back on that.
By all accounts the Islanders organization and their fans love this guy and the whole trade request situation took a toll on all the parties involved. I’m sure this will be a headache for Islanders fans to deal with all the proposals that will be thrown around.
From an Oilers fan’s perspective, as much as it is great to have Hamonic’s name back in the rumour mill, Taylor Halls name being thrown around is sure to cause another headache.
Unless the Islanders are willing to throw in more, I wouldn’t deal Hall for Hamonic. Not even close.
A deal centered around Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for Hamonic and say pending Frans Nielsen? Or maybe Anders Lee?
As mucha s Islanders fans will never accept it, Jordan Eberle would be a great fit on John Tavares’ wing, so maybe that’s a deal that gets another look from both sides.
Of course the Oilers won’t be the only team with Hamonic high on their list should he become available again. The Jets could simply flip Jacob Trouba for him, and the Flames could give Dougie Hamilton a fresh start and swap the two right handed defenders.
Anyways, I’m sure if there is any substance to these rumours, which I feel that there is, we will be hearing more in the next few days.
