The Whitecourt Wolverines captain from last season, Adam Sandstrom, has committed to the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees of USports.
The Gee-Gees were having a great season last year finishing the regular season with a 17-7-4 record; however, their postseason was interrupted due to COVID-19.
Sandstrom played 165 AJHL regular-season games for Whitecourt and the Bonnyville Pontiacs. His junior career started in 2017 with the Pontiacs as an 18-year-old. He played in 78 games for Bonnyville before being traded to Whitecourt in exchange for Matthew Monk.
Sandstrom played a season and a half with the Wolverines, and in his final season, he was named team captain. The Red Deer native had a career-year offensively scoring ten goals and 39 points. At the end of the season, he was voted to the AJHL North All-League team and was a nominee for the Outstanding Defenceman award.
He was initially committed to the NAIT Ooks but their season has been suspended.
