Yale University released its 2020 recruiting class today via Twitter which included Reilly Connors (Bonnyville Pontiacs) and Ryan Conroy (Spruce Grove Saints).
One other player mentioned was Drayton Valley Thunder forward Henry Wagner who initially wasn’t supposed to join the Bulldogs until the 2021-22 season.
Wagner committed to Yale in August 2018 when he was a member of the St Louis AAA Blues. He began his junior hockey career in the BCHL with the Prince George Spruce Kings but was then traded to the Drayton Valley Thunder early last season.
Wagner scored 9 goals and 16 points in 41 games for the Thunder and was named the team’s most dedicated player. Along with that, he was named 2020 Inter Pipeline AJHL All-Academic Team.

With the loss of Wagner, the Thunder went out and recruited 2002-born forward Mason Marcellus (2002) from Rice Memorial Prep School.
Marcellus was the captain of Rice last season in his second year with the program. He had a phenomenal year scoring 107 points (26 goals, 81 assists) in 47 games played. His 107 points led the league.
Marcellus is much-needed recruit for the Thunder who are losing three of their four highest scorers from last season.
